On the Verge of a Great Transformation
Over the last three decades, Milpitas has undergone a breathtaking evolution. Once a quiet bedroom community of 52,000, the "Crossroads of Silicon Valley" has ignited into a vibrant, bustling city of over 80,000. Driven by the energy of the Great Mall, Milpitas Square, and the addition of over 7,000 new homes, we are charging toward a future as a proud city of 100,000 residents.
This growth tells a beautiful story of diversity. Our Asian community now represents 72% of our population. But it is not a monolith; we are a magnificent microcosm of the world. The distinct voices and heritages of our Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, and Indian neighbors weave a rich, unparalleled cultural tapestry. This is our greatest strength.
Yet, bold growth demands bold leadership, and today we stand at a critical turning point. The challenges we face cannot be solved by passive management:
-
The Financial Gap: A looming $16 million (over 5 years) structural deficit threatens our future, with no clear plan to support our expanding population.
-
Unclear revenue plan: Raising taxes on local businesses is a band-aid, not a long-term solution. "Managing it over time" is simply running in place.
-
A Talent Crisis?: An overbearing city council has crushed morale and driven away the very talent we need to run our city.
-
Our Missing Soul: Residents are seeking a true sense of community identity. Milpitas should be a premier destination to live, gather, and celebrate—not just a thoroughfare to get somewhere else.
Should we accept the status quo? Should we continue to be a city just to pass through? For these reasons, and for the future of our families, it is time to consider a BOLD NEW VISION.
